General l'acArthur stated in Septerber, 1944, that the

presence in Australia of British Officers, who would

later participate in Civil Affairs activities in Borneo,

would be welcome. In January, 1945, we were informed by

telegram that the complete Borneo Unit was required to

assemble in Australia without avoidable delay, and they

have now taken post in the field.
